New development to bring 137 homes to Denny

Work is set to begin later this year on the construction of 137 new Falkirk Council homes on the site of the former Denny High School, over two phases.

The £35.5 million development will deliver a wide combination of homes for social rent, including one, two, three, and four-bedroom properties.

25 of the houses will be built to be more accessible for residents with mobility issues, and seven homes are designed for wheelchair users, helping to meet a range of housing needs in the area.

All properties will also be constructed to high environmental standards, with sustainability features such as solar panels installed in the homes and included as part of the build.

The project has been supported by £12.6m from the Scottish Government and £1.2m from developer contributions.

Construction will be led by Clark Contracts, who recently completed Falkirk Council’s Japp Gardens development in Polmont. Work is due to start on the site in December 2025, with completion expected by November 2028.

The first phase will deliver 106 homes as well as roads, services, and landscaping for a second phase of 31 further properties.

Councillor Gary Bouse, Falkirk Council’s spokesperson for housing, said: “Following on the heels of the new homes in Hallglen, this development represents a major investment in Denny area, creating high-quality, energy efficient and sustainable council housing that reflects the real needs of local people.

“From family homes to wheelchair-accessible properties, this development will provide opportunities for many different households and strengthen the community for the long term.”
