New handy person service for Kirkcaldy area

Residents in Kirkcaldy, Dysart, Kinghorn, Burntisland, and Auchtertool can now benefit from a new Handy Person Service, designed to support individuals with small household repairs and tasks.

Fife Council said that it is aware that for some people in its communities, small jobs around the house, like changing light bulbs, moving furniture or carrying out small repairs, can be impossible to carry out, not to mention unaffordable.

As a result, it teamed up with the Community Trade Hub, a not-for-profit organisation with extensive experience in community support and skills development. Together, the organisations want to provide a service to those who aren’t able and can’t afford to pay for these services. The Community Trade Hub provides a service which is trusted, reliable, accessible, and affordable.

The services are available to all, not just council tenants, but also homeowners and private tenants who need a little help.

Services include:

  • Installation of washing machines
  • Moving small items to the kerbside
  • Furniture assembly
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Hanging shelves, pictures, and curtain rails
  • Moving furniture
  • Small joinery, plumbing, and electrical repairs

This initiative is part of the Community Trade Hub’s broader mission to empower individuals and enhance community wellbeing through practical support and learning opportunities.
