New homes on the way for Aviemore

Cairngorms National Park AuthorityA total of 44 new homes for Aviemore have been given the go-ahead by planners with 15 of those being affordable properties.

The Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) planning committee approved two separate applications at its latest meeting last week.

Cairngorm Properties Ltd now has permission to build 30 flats and eight terraced homes on a site to the north west of Aviemore while Albyn Housing Society Limited has been given the go ahead to build six affordable homes at Dellmhor, beside the Ski Road at Inverdruie.

Both applications were recommended for approval by CNPA planning officers, subject to conditions and agreement of planning obligations.

CNPA planning committee convener, Eleanor Mackintosh, supported both applications, welcoming the provision of new affordable homes.

She said: “Time and time again we are asked about affordable housing in the Cairngorms National Park so I am particularly pleased with the outcome today, securing 15 new affordable properties. Both of these sites are well located and the plans before us comply with the current Local Development Plan policies.”
