Dunbritton Housing Association has appointed Dean Walker, thought to be one of the sector’s youngest office bearers, as its new vice chair.

The Association recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and held a drinks reception, sponsored by its contractors and consultants, following the Annual General Meeting at Duck Bay Marina.

It also took the opportunity to launch its new logo and strapline ‘Together We Can’.

At the AGM, Dean Walker, who has served on Dunbritton’s Board since 2013, was elected as vice chair. At 28-years-old, the Association believes that Dean is one of Scotland’s youngest housing association office bearers.

Dean Walker, Dunbritton Housing Association vice chair, said: “I am very proud to be Vice-Chairman of Dunbritton Housing Association, I am happy that the Board has recognised my qualities and skills and have put their trust in me to carry out this important role. It is a credit to them, and the management team, that long-term thinking and continuous review, regardless of age, is accepted practice at Dunbritton.

“I would encourage more young people to get involved in social housing. It’s really worthwhile and satisfying and it lets you make a positive impact on the area you live in.

“I believe in the values and ethos of Dunbritton, and I am proud to be the Vice-Chair at my relatively young age.

“I’m looking forward to seeing our new developments at Dumbarton Harbour and Succoth, Arrochar; and addressing all the challenges that lie ahead. Celebrating our 25th anniversary was a milestone, and we’re all looking forward to the next 25 years, embracing our new logo and strapline Together We Can.”

Allan Murphy, Dunbritton Housing Association chief executive officer, said: “At 28-years-old, Dean must surely be one of Scotland’s youngest housing association office bearers, and we hope that this may encourage more young people to get involved in making a difference in their local communities.

“Dean has served on our Board since 2013, and I am really looking forward to working with him and the rest of the Board in future. We have an excellent mix of skills, experience and knowledge on our Board, and we continuously encourage people from all backgrounds to get involved at Dunbritton.”
