ng homes’ Landlord Report for 2023, which highlights the firm’s performance over the past 12 months, is now available.

This document is a requirement of the Scottish Housing Charter which sets standards and outcomes that all Housing Associations should aim to achieve when providing services to tenants.

The report revealed that as at 31 March 2023, ng homes owned 5,447 homes and the total rent due for the year was £24.7m. In 2023, the firm increased rents by 6%, however ng homes stressed that its rent increases have generally been lower than other housing associations in the surrounding areas over the last two years.

In terms of tenant satisfaction, 83.6% of ng tenants said they were satisfied with the overall service provided by ng homes, compared to the Scottish average of 86.7%. At the same time, 82.5% of tenants felt that the rent for their property represents good value for money. A total of 86.5% felt that ng homes were good at keeping them informed about its services and outcomes compared to the Scottish average of 89.7%.

The report also indicated that 100% of tenants were happy with the standard of their home when moving in and 86.7% of tenants were satisfied with the opportunities to participate in ng homes’ decision making, compared to the Scottish average of 85.9%. A further 78.6% of tenants revealed they are satisfied with the quality of their homes.

Finally, 80.7% of tenants highlighted that they are satisfied with the management of the neighbourhood they live in.

According to the report, ng homes carried out ten evictions in 2023, of which nine tenants were evicted for rent arrears and one for other reasons. This is a rise from 2022, where just four were evicted for rent arrears. The total percentage of rent arrears due in 2023 was 5.8% compared to 5.3% in 2021/22.

ng homes also revealed its housing allocation figures, with 104 homes let to existing tenants, whereas 172 were let to waiting list tenants in 2023, and 148 homes were let to homeless tenants over the year.

Commenting on the publication, Catherine Rossine, ng homes chairperson said: “We want to share our successes with you, but it is equally important that we continue to learn and improve. It is essential we listen to, and involve our tenants, and your views on our performance and the services we provide are vitally important to help us to achieve this goal.”
