North Ayrshire Council seeks tenants’ views on proposed rent charges

North-Ayrshire-Council-LogoCouncil tenants in North Ayrshire are being urged to have their say on proposed rent charges for next year.

The council understands that many people are feeling the pressures of the current economic climate and the UK government’s Welfare Reform changes.

It is therefore more important than ever before that tenants have their voices heard on which of the two proposed rent increases they would prefer to see.

An online questionnaire has now been launched as the council looks to get the right balance between ensuring residents have affordable rents while delivering the high quality services and improvements tenants expect.

The council will decide the rent increase for 2016/17 when it sets its budget this December.

Cabinet member for place, Councillor Tony Gurney, said: “I would urge as many people as possible to take part in the consultation. This is the perfect opportunity for our tenants to tell us what they think before any decision is taken.”
