North Lanarkshire Council launches tenant conference

North Lanarkshire Council launches tenant conference

Bookings are open for North Lanarkshire Council’s popular Tenants’ Conference with this year’s theme to be ‘Strong Foundations’.

Taking place on Saturday, 1 November at Chryston Community Hub, registration opens at 9am with the conference getting underway at 10am and closing at 1.30pm.

The conference not only looks to the exciting future ahead for housing services but also highlights the key achievements and impact that tenants, working alongside staff, have made across communities over the past year. This year’s theme focuses on building on the already solid foundations laid by housing services, tenants and other organisations who work together to benefit local people.

The conference agenda is packed with housing news, consultations, question and answer sessions with housing staff, and opportunities for tenants to come together and share their own ideas. A range of stalls will be in place at the popular marketplace, including the Income Maximisation Team, Health and Social Care, Energy Advice, Mears, Saltire and local housing services.

Key topics being covered include hearing about the housing team’s future priorities that will positively impact on tenants and their homes, digital support for tenants and future-proofing homes.

Housing convener, Councillor Michael McPake, is opening the conference.

He said: “Our Tenants’ Conference is always the highlight of our tenant participation year. It’s a fantastic event with the number of tenants participating growing year on year. With key areas such as digital support and future-proofing homes on the agenda, I’d encourage tenants who’ve never attended before to come along and find out more about their housing service. One of the event highlights for me is having an opportunity to speak to tenants first-hand and hear how our services make a difference across our local communities.”

Tenant participation manager, Tracy Lennon, added: “This year has been a great year for tenant participation, and we’ve seen more and more tenants getting involved in the range of participation opportunities we offer. For someone maybe wanting to find out a bit more, our conference is the perfect place to do this. We aim to deliver another showcase event, putting tenants at the heart of our housing service. Come along and meet other tenants, organisations and staff and feel part of your housing service.”
