Ochil View events lend vital support to tenants

Ochil View Housing Association has given a helping hand this winter to more than 400 tenants at its recent ‘Meet, Heat and Eat’ events.

The Association is based across Clackmannanshire and South-West Fife, serving around 1,400 tenants in a range of properties.

Thanks to successfully obtaining £123,121 through the SFHA Fuel Support Fund and its own internal Community Benefit Fund, the Association set up staff training in energy advice, purchasing energy saving goods and, over the next few months, a plan to issue fuel vouchers to tenants.

The six events were held within the different communities the Association represents. At these, tenants received a range of fantastic energy-saving products, such as winter duvets, air fryers and one-cup kettles, absolutely free. Experts from the Association, as well as partnering organisations, such as Citizens Advice Bureau and Cosy Kingdom, were also on hand to provide advice on how tenants can reduce debts during these challenging times.

Ochil View said it was delighted that over 420 households attended the sessions. As well as distributing goods to everyone who came through the doors, they were also pleased to refer many on for further support in clearing their fuel debt.

One tenant said: “I can’t thank the amazing staff enough. We’ve truly got a team that goes over and above. In these bleak times, every bit helps.”

Another tenant added: “I feel a massive weight off my shoulder with the assistance in clearing my fuel debt.”

Anne Smith, chief executive at Ochil View, said: “It’s fantastic to receive such positive feedback about our recent events. Our staff worked extremely hard in securing the necessary funding and with organising and delivering the various events, so it is great to hear that there has been such a positive impact for our tenants in these difficult times.”
