Outstanding care ratings mark major win for Hanover

Morris Court

A landmark set of inspection results has recognised the exceptional standards of care delivered by Hanover Scotland, with two key services receiving praise for outstanding performance and leadership, placing them amongst the highest-performing in Scotland.

The housing provider has been commended by the Care Inspectorate for its Care at Home service at Morris Court in Dalry, North Ayrshire, which received the highest possible inspection rating of “Excellent” in two core areas.

The recognition is supported by a successful follow-up inspection of Hanover’s North Area Care at Home Service, covering Elgin and Forres, which received an improved “Good” rating for leadership, highlighting meaningful progress across the region.

At Morris Court, inspectors awarded a rare double Excellent grade for “How well we support people’s wellbeing” and “How good our employee team is,” following an unannounced inspection.

The service supports 23 older people living independently in their own homes within the Morris Court development, helping individuals remain safe, well and connected to their community.

Lesley Elliott, head of care & support at Hanover, said: “We are very pleased with this outcome, which reflects the dedication of our employees and leadership team. These improvements help ensure that people are supported to live with dignity, safety, and independence in their own homes.”

Inspectors highlighted the team’s calm and compassionate approach, underpinned by strong professional values and a deep understanding of everyone’s needs.

Safe medication practices, a wide range of social activities, and swift responses to health changes were all commended.

Feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive, with comments praising staff, the quality of housing and the independent living being offered.

Inspectors described the outcomes at Morris Court as “sector-leading” and praised the team for delivering high-impact support that promoted dignity, independence, and community connection.

Meanwhile, the North Area Care at Home service, which supports 92 people across Chandlers Court in Elgin, Varis Court in Forres, and Linkwood View in Elgin, was also the subject of a positive inspection report.

The follow-up inspection, completed in October, confirmed that previous requirements had been met and most areas for improvement addressed. The service was awarded a “Good” rating for leadership.

Inspectors noted improvements in financial oversight, scheduling of care hours, and quality assurance, with a focus on personalised support that helps people achieve meaningful goals.

Esther Wilson, director of customer services at Hanover, said: “These achievements reflect the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our teams. Across Scotland, our colleagues continue to put people’s wellbeing at the heart of everything they do, and we are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.”

The inspection also highlighted stronger communications with families and professionals, as well as a culture of learning and accountability throughout the North Area team.

Only minor refinements were suggested, relating to the recording of ‘as required’ medications, the final step in an otherwise successful programme of improvement.

Together, the two services exemplify Hanover’s commitment to helping older people live safely and independently with dignity in their own homes who are supported by skilled teams who put wellbeing first.
