Parliamentary honour for Elderpark

Former First Minister Humza Yousaf has laid down a Motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating Elderpark Housing.
The local MSP praised the good work of Elderpark as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The news comes as Elderpark reveals two new developments in its plans to mark this milestone.
A Glasgow City Council civic reception is to be held in Elderpark’s honour, and plans are underway to create a new mural to bring colour and optimism to this vibrant community.
The full text of the Motion says: “That the Parliament congratulates Elderpark Housing Association on the milestone of its 50th Anniversary; believes that community-based housing associations play a pivotal role in Scottish life; understands that Elderpark Housing has contributed immensely to the local community during its 50 years, not just in building new homes but in supporting the local neighbourhoods and the people who live there; recognises the multiple accolades won by Elderpark Housing, including the Excellence for Learning and Development award in the 2023 Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland Housing Awards, Housing Organisation of the Year at the TIS National Excellence Awards, and a TPAS award for its initiative working with local schools the same year; understands that it is developing a calendar of celebratory events and initiatives, which will go on throughout the year with tenants fully involved, ensuring the proud history of the organisation is commemorated; commends the great work done by the management and staff, and wishes everyone all the best for many more years to come.”
The Motion has attracted support from across the political spectrum.
Gary Dalziel, Elderpark’s chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in the Scottish Parliament and thank Humza Yousaf for this Motion of congratulations. Over the last 50 years, the Association has focused on being at the heart of the community by supporting our tenants and putting our neighbourhoods first.
“We are developing a range of projects, events and activities to recognise this milestone as we mark our 50-year journey and look forward to the next 50 years.”
