Maryhill Housing has appointed Paul Hillard as its new chair, following the organisation’s 48th Annual General Meeting last week.

Paul joined the Maryhill Housing board in 2024, bringing extensive experience in the Registered Social Landlord (RSL) sector, both as a senior staff member and consultant. He succeeds Lindsay Forrest, who stepped down after four years of dedicated service as chair.

During her tenure, Lindsay provided exceptional leadership through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. Under her guidance, Maryhill Housing:

  • Completed three new housing developments, delivering over 100 homes.
  • Acquired more than 50 properties in partnership with Glasgow City Council to help tackle homelessness.
  • Advanced regeneration plans for the Maryhill Transformational Regeneration Area in partnership with Transforming Communities Glasgow.
  • Delivered innovative Net Zero retrofit planning in collaboration with three other RSLs.
  • Formed the North West Partners strategic alliance with Queens Cross Housing Association.
  • Launched Maryhill Helps, a new initiative bringing the existing community regeneration and financial support services under one umbrella, to promote the availability of these essential services to customers.

Reflecting on her time as chair, Lindsay said: “It has been an honour to serve as chair over the last four years. These have been challenging times for all, and I want to thank the Board members and staff who supported me throughout. Maryhill Housing’s vision is to deliver great homes in thriving communities, and I have every confidence in my colleagues to carry this forward.”

Chief executive Rebecca Wilson paid tribute to Lindsay’s leadership: “Lindsay has been a fantastic chair, guiding Maryhill Housing through some truly difficult periods. She has been a tremendous support to the board and staff, and on behalf of everyone at Maryhill Housing, I want to thank her for her dedication and commitment.”

Incoming chair Paul Hillard shared his enthusiasm for the role: “It’s a real honour to take on the chair position at Maryhill Housing. I know its heritage as a community anchor organisation serving in one of Scotland’s most vibrant and diverse areas. Maryhill Housing is in the position to make a meaningful difference to the lives of our customers and communities and I’m excited by the opportunities this presents.”
