Perth and Kinross consultation on council house rent structures

Perth_and_KinrossCouncil tenants in Perth and Kinross are being invited to take part in a review of the housing rent charging structure.

Open meetings are being held throughout August and September to consult with tenants on how the new rent policy is devised and how it can be affected by property characteristics such as size, type and location.

As part of the consultation, tenants will also be asked to consider how comfortable they would feel with substantial changes to the current structure or whether the priority should be on avoiding wholescale change.

The issues raised by tenants and their feedback will help to ensure that any new structure is fair, easy to understand and takes into account the expectations of the residents who will be affected. The meetings have been arranged by housing staff and members of the Tenants Information Service (TIS), who have been commissioned by the council to provide independent advice and facilitate discussions with tenants on rent restructuring.

The meetings will give tenants the opportunity to:

  • find out more about the purpose, scope and progress of the rent restructuring project;
  • listen to feedback from the tenants’ survey undertaken in July 2015;
  • ask questions about the process to council and TIS representatives;
  • take part in projects and discussions to further consider and share their priorities to influence the outcomes of the rent restructuring project.
  • All tenants who attend any of the Rent Restructuring Discussion Meetings will be entered into a free prize draw for a chance to win £250.
