Plans to be unveiled for former tower block site in Irvine

Plans to redevelop the site of the former high flats in Irvine are to be unveiled to members of the public.

Residents and interested parties are invited to view the draft plans for 43 modern, energy efficient homes in Fullarton.

Following the completion of demolition of the five tower blocks in late 2023, North Ayrshire Council aims to give the site a new lease of life with the creation of 36 general needs homes, four amenity bungalows and three properties suitable for wheelchair users. These plans are subject to planning approval which will be considered in due course.

A drop-in event to view and discuss the draft plans is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, from 4pm-6pm at Fullarton ConneXions, Church Street, Irvine, KA12 8PE.

Councillor Alan Hill, cabinet member for communities, housing and islands, said: “In North Ayrshire, we have one of the most ambitious house-building programmes in the country and are already more than halfway towards our target of building more than 1,600 new homes across North Ayrshire. It will be wonderful to see this site - formerly home to five tower blocks which had reached their end of life – transformed into a vibrant, modern and welcoming community.”

To book a place at the event, please email developmentandstrategy@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or tel:01294 324031.

Work is currently scheduled to get underway in early 2027, subject to planning permission being granted, with completion expected in spring 2028.
