Regulator informs landlords on timescales for submitting annual regulatory returns

The Scottish Housing Regulator has written to all social landlords to inform them it will revert to original timescales for submitting annual regulatory returns after timescales were extended in March last year in response to the pandemic.

The Regulator said it consulted with key stakeholders on the best approach to regulatory returns during 2021. It found there was a predominant opinion that it is appropriate to collect the full range of information in the regulatory returns and that the Regulator should revert to the original timescales for these.

During the period of the pandemic, the Regulator has collected a small set of information from each social landlord each month, which is published in the form of a dashboard. This information is shared with the Social Housing Resilience Group and the Scottish Government to help them monitor and respond to the impact of the pandemic. The Regulator will still collect regular information on the impact of the pandemic on social landlords, but will change the frequency to once for each quarter starting from April.

This position will be kept under review by the Regulator, to respond to any significant developments in relation to the national response to the pandemic.
