Regulator provides engagement update for River Clyde Homes
The Scottish Housing Regulator has issued a progress report on its ongoing engagement with River Clyde Homes.
River Clyde Homes has been designated as a systemically important landlord by the Regulator, which requires SHR to seek additional assurance to understand business models, risk management, and potential impacts.
In its latest engagement plan for River Clyde Homes, the Regulator said it has provided the necessary assurance regarding its financial management for 2025/26.
River Clyde Homes has identified reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in some of its homes and has put a plan in place to manage associated risks. The Regulator said it is seeking assurance that this plan is being progressed and that remedial work will be completed where required.
In August 2025, River Clyde Homes confirmed it was not fully compliant with electrical safety requirements introduced in 2022 under the Scottish Housing Quality Standard. The landlord is carrying out inspections to provide Electrical Installation Condition Reports across its housing stock and has committed to completing the work by January 2026.
River Clyde Homes has also commissioned an independent review to provide assurance over compliance with other tenant and resident safety obligations.
A spokesperson for River Clyde Homes told Scottish Housing News: “River Clyde Homes takes a proactive approach to its engagement with the Regulator, and our revised engagement plan reflects this. As a systemically important landlord, we will continue to maintain ongoing interaction with the Regulator across all aspects of our engagement plan.”
