Rutherglen multi-storey residents receive new fire doors

New, engineered timber fire doors have been supplied and installed by the CCG Group in Rutherglen, improving fire safety for 164 residences at Greenhill Court.

The £670,000 contract was undertaken on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council, and forms part of a larger planned maintenance programme worth up to £10 million that has been ongoing across the local authority since 2022.

The door sets – comprising the door leaf as well as the surrounding frame for all flat entrances, common passageways and stores – were fabricated by CCG’s in-house ‘Manufacturing’ division just two miles from the address at the company’s headquarters in Cambuslang.

Every door has been completed to exacting specification thanks to semi-automated production processes, including robotically applied paint, resulting in a fully fire-rated and BM Trada Q Mark-certified product that is proven to withstand a fire up to 60 minutes as well as the passage of smoke during an emergency.

Installation services were assumed by CCG’s in-house planned maintenance division known as ‘Asset Management’, providing a full supply and fit service.

Jim Cunningham, CCG asset management manager, said: “I am delighted that we have handed over Greenhill Court to South Lanarkshire Council. The completion of this contract takes the number of doors installed over the duration of this multi-phase programme to 2500 units, encompassing over 1300 residences, which is a remarkable achievement.

“The programme is not just a testament to our own capabilities, but also highlights the Council’s commitment to prioritise the safety and security of tenants living in multi-storey accommodation across the region.

“Over the coming weeks, we will transition to a further residence in Hamilton before returning to Cambuslang for the final contract of the programme. We thank the Council and their tenants for their ongoing support, and look forward to progressing works over the weeks and months ahead.”

The South Lanarkshire Council fire door replacement programme was procured via the Scottish Procurement Alliance.
