Earlier in 2026, Scottish Borders Council launched a survey inviting residents, communities, businesses and those who live, work or spend their time in the Borders to convey their thoughts on their local places.

The survey asks people what they are happy with, what could be better, and what they believe should be considered for the future.

Termed ‘Tell Us About Your Local Place: Local Development Plan 3 Early Engagement Survey’, the survey is available through Scottish Borders Council’s online survey and consultation portal, Citizen Space. The survey remains open until 30 September 2026.

The Local Development Plan is defined as the council’s long-term plan for the area. It lays out where development should and should not occur and helps the delivery of upcoming planning decisions.
