Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay MSP paid a visit to a Persimmon Homes development in Muirhead to discuss the future of housebuilding and the importance of delivering more new homes across Scotland.
Mr Findlay visited Persimmon Homes’ Royale Meadows development, where he met West Scotland managing director Chris Logan to discuss the challenges facing the housebuilding industry and the role developers can play in supporting communities.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the wider contribution of housebuilding to Scotland’s economy, including the need to deliver new homes alongside the infrastructure, affordable housing and community facilities needed to support growing communities.
Royale Meadows is delivering 292 energy-efficient homes for local families, including 44 affordable homes which have been transferred to Sanctuary Scotland.
The development is also bringing more than £1.2 million of investment to the local area, including £140,000 towards upgraded play park facilities and £200,000 for local road improvements.

During his visit, Mr Findlay toured the development and discussed the opportunities and challenges facing the sector with Persimmon’s West Scotland team.
Russell Findlay MSP said: “I was delighted to meet the Persimmon Homes team at their fantastic Royale Meadows site in North Lanarkshire and grateful for their time and knowledge.
“It’s heartening to learn more about how housebuilders are tackling Scotland’s housing emergency with such determination.”
Chris Logan, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “The need for new homes is an issue that affects communities across Scotland, and housebuilders have an important role to play in meeting that demand.
“Developments like Royale Meadows show how new homes can go hand in hand with investment in infrastructure, community facilities, affordable housing, jobs and training.
“We were pleased to welcome Russell to Muirhead and discuss the contribution housebuilding makes both locally and across Scotland.”
