Scottish first as Trust achieves Leaders in Diversity accreditation

Trust HousingTrust Housing Association has become the first Scottish housing association to be recognised for its commitment to becoming a leader in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

Trust was awarded the Leaders in Diversity (LID) accreditation after the National Centre for Diversity worked closely with the organisation’s management team.

The LID award places Trust Housing Association as one of the best in the delivery of EDI practices that can demonstrate an all-encompassing and effective approach to managing equality, diversity and inclusion.

Administered by the National Centre for Diversity, the scheme helps organisations to achieve an inclusive culture in which every employee can succeed and feel valued, and in which every client receives fair and equal treatment, regardless of their background.

Trust’s chief executive, Rhona McLeod, said: “Receiving LID accreditation is a great achievement for Trust and we are particularly proud to become the first Scottish housing association to attain this highly prestigious status. Our success reflects the hard work of our staff and their commitment to continually raising the bar on equality, diversity and inclusion issues.

“However, we must maintain our focus as there is always room for improvement. I am committed to further embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do at Trust.

The National Centre for Diversity has been a tremendous help in giving us the right focus to look at our EDI practices, in our service delivery, with external stakeholders and with contractors.”

Solat Chaudhry, chief executive at the National Centre for Diversity, added: “Trust Housing’s Leadership team has shown tremendous commitment towards making significant improvements, we would like to particularly thank Rohini Sharma Joshi for her limitless energy and enthusiasm for the whole process. Well done Trust Housing Association, this is a huge achievement. You should be justifiably proud.”
