Trust Housing Association has awarded a £7 million multi-trade contract for day-to-day responsive repairs, void property works and out-of-hours emergency works to Lanarkshire-based company Rodgers and Johnston Ltd.

The contract is the largest single repairs and maintenance contract to be awarded in Trust’s 50-year history, covering over 2,000 of Trust’s 4,000 homes across west central Scotland, over half of which are in Glasgow, North Lanarkshire & South Lanarkshire.

The contract which will run for an initial two years, with the option to extend for a further two years on a year-by-year basis, was procured following an internal review of Trust’s repairs delivery model, operational delivery functions and the commercial viability of previous contracts.

The resulting new single-contractor service model was also shaped by customer feedback and soft market testing. Following the review, a rigorous procurement tendering process was completed, in line with the current procurement legislation set by the Scottish Government.

Prior to the new contract being awarded, Trust customers in west central Scotland received their repairs service from multiple different contractors, including Rodgers & Johnston, who have provided services to Trust for over a decade.

As a result of the award of this larger single contract, more Trust customers will benefit from having a ‘one-stop shop’ service provider for all their repairs and maintenance requirements, leading to enhanced performance and customer satisfaction with the service.

In addition to this, the new contract also includes new contractual community benefits for Trust customers and communities, including apprenticeships, work experience opportunities and educational support activities.

Jackie McIntosh, director of assets and sustainability at Trust, said: “We are delighted to have appointed Rodgers & Johnston as our day-to-day Responsive Repairs contractor for West Central Scotland. The day-to-day repairs service is our most used service, therefore it is vital we get it right and appoint the right contractor to deliver this crucially important service for our customers.

“This contract was designed with both customer service and best value being paramount. With one single contractor now in place, we will be able to deliver an improved, cost effective, customer centred, quality repairs service for all Trust customers based in west central Scotland.”

Greg Johnston, director of Rodgers and Johnston, added: “We are excited to have been awarded this multi-trade contract and continue our successful and longstanding partnership with Trust. We continue to build on this foundation and reaffirm our commitment to provide a dedicated and high-quality repairs service to Trust’s customers. Our approach to customer service and customer satisfaction is very much aligned to Trust’s and we are also looking forward to delivering our new contractual community benefits as part of the contract.”
