The Scottish Housing Regulator has published a summary of the outcomes of its risk assessment of local authorities and registered social landlords (RSLs).

This year the regulator said it will engage with 65 of the 162 RSLs in Scotland and 23 of 32 local authorities. These new reports describe the main themes of the regulator’s engagement across both RSLs and local authorities, details the landlords it will engage with and the reasons for this engagement.

Michael Cameron, chief executive, said: “Our regulatory assessment is core to our risk-based regulation. This year, we’re engaging with landlords to get assurance across a range of issues, including financial issues and governance in RSLs, service quality across RSLs and local authorities, and homelessness services in local authorities.

“This is the first time we have published reports on the main themes of our engagement. We want to share as much information as we can about how we work, and these new reports are an important way we do this.”

The regulator’s annual regulatory assessment takes account of information from landlords in their annual returns, including the annual return on the Scottish Social Housing Charter.

The regulator will publish more information about how it carries out its risk assessments in the next of its new ‘How we work’ series later this month.
