Bringing together chairs, governing body members and housing professionals from across Scotland, the two-day event will combine expert insight, practical learning, roundtable discussions and networking, with a focus on the issues shaping governance across the housing sector.

Day one will open with Share CEO Daryl McIntosh, followed by Alison Lamont, director of housing & communities at Ayrshire Housing, exploring how organisations can move from consultation to genuine co-production and put customers and communities at the heart of strategic decision-making.

The programme will also look at the importance of diverse leadership, with Claire McGraw, director of tenancy services at Govanhill Housing Association, and Zara Mohammed, associate at the Housing Diversity Network, examining how representation can strengthen governance, improve engagement and support responsive services.

Afternoon roundtables will focus on practical issues including understanding staff wellbeing, capacity and support in the workplace, damp and mould management, and rent setting in a challenging environment. A panel discussion will also explore how organisations can attract and support the next generation of board members and trustees.

The day will close with Emma Willey, managing director of ACS Learning & Consultancy, exploring resilience, wellbeing and the importance of looking after the people who look after others.

Day two will take place on Scottish Housing Day, providing a great opportunity to celebrate the people and organisations working across Scotland’s housing sector. The day will begin with Helen Shaw, director of regulation at the Scottish Housing Regulator, discussing The Future of Regulation: Working Together to Strengthen Board Effectiveness. The programme will then look at practical support for communities through the Scarf Fuel Fund, before Thomas Delaney, public speaker and founder of YouthWISE, closes the Convention with a session exploring housing, belonging and the power of understanding.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet the Convention’s day one exhibitors, including ACS Learning & Consultancy, Beatson Cancer Charity, RBS, Scarf and Steri Systems.

The Convention offers governing body members an opportunity to reflect on their role, learn from experienced speakers and connect with colleagues from across the sector.
