The pilot series, “Share’s Monthly Housing Meet Up”, will bring together housing and property professionals from across Scotland to discuss some of the sector’s most pressing and topical issues.

The webinar series will be hosted by Share’s Housing Professional Development Officer, Jacqueline Omoniyi, and is driven by topical issues and participant discussion, encouraging attendees to exchange ideas, ask questions and learn from one another’s experiences.

The initiative has been developed in response to growing demand for opportunities to discuss how organisations are responding to legislative, regulatory and operational challenges in real-world settings.

With the housing sector continuing to navigate significant change, Share believes there is increasing value in creating spaces where practitioners can have open and honest conversations about what’s working, what isn’t, and how challenges are being addressed in practice.

Four topical discussions

The series will run from August to November and focus on issues currently high on the agenda for housing organisations.

The first session, taking place on 27th August, will examine domestic abuse and tenancy updates arising from the Housing (Scotland) Act, providing an opportunity for participants to discuss implementation challenges and share approaches to supporting tenants affected by domestic abuse.

On 23rd September, attention will turn to damp and mould, with discussion centred on preparations for new legislation due to take effect in Scotland in October. Housing professionals will have the chance to explore how organisations are managing the issue, meeting tenant expectations and preparing for evolving requirements.

The 22nd October webinar will focus on updates to the Repairing Standard, including how changes relating to common area repairs and lead in water are working in practice across the sector.

The final webinar for 2026 will take place on 26th November and will take a broader view, reflecting on the key developments that have shaped housing in 2026 and looking ahead to the opportunities, challenges and priorities expected in 2027.

Building a community

Share hopes the series will evolve beyond a programme of webinars and become a trusted network for ongoing professional discussion.

By bringing together colleagues from different organisations, disciplines and levels of experience, the webinars are designed to encourage knowledge sharing and strengthen professional networking across the housing sector.

Participants will be invited to raise questions, share examples from their own organisations and help shape future discussions, ensuring the content remains relevant to the challenges facing housing professionals on the ground.

Commenting on the launch, Jacqueline Omoniyi said: “There is no shortage of webinars offering expert opinion, but there are fewer opportunities for housing professionals to come together and have practical conversations about how they’re dealing with issues in their day-to-day roles. We wanted to create a space where people can ask questions, share experiences and learn from one another in an open and supportive environment.

“The webinars are about harnessing the expertise that already exists within the sector and giving professionals the opportunity to discuss challenges honestly, exchange ideas and build valuable connections with colleagues across Scotland.”
