Professionals from across Scotland’s social housing sector joined hundreds of delegates in Glasgow yesterday for the Scottish Construction Summit, the flagship construction event held by SHN’s sister publication Scottish Construction Now.

Kingdom Housing Association, Caledonia Housing Association, Partick Housing Association, Angus Housing Association, West of Scotland Housing Association and the Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations (GWSF) were among the organisations represented.

Those in attendance heard from a wide range of experts sharing insights across the day’s four main themes: Sustainability, Recruitment & Retention, the Commercial Model, and Digitalisation.

Of particular importance for housing associations was the presentation from Jocelyne Fleming, the policy & public affairs officer - Scotland at the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), who shared insights from ‘Harnessing Scotland’s Social Housing Expertise’, a research project that highlighted how the Scottish Government can support the social housing sector to reach its retrofit targets.

Jocelyne told delegates that the social rented sector has some of the most energy-efficient homes in Scotland, largely due to the willingness and ability of housing associations to undertake energy-efficient retrofit projects, but that funding and approach issues have proven to be a barrier to further progress.

Social Housing Pavilion planned for Scottish Construction Summit 2026

Closing the event, SHN and SCN editor Kieran Findlay shared an announcement that an expanded Scottish Construction Summit will take place next year on October 22 at the Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow.

“Such was the demand for a construction event of this type in Scotland, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be taking the Scottish Construction Summit to the SEC next year,” he told delegates.

The increased event is set to include a dedicated Social Housing Pavilion, complete with a full line-up of speakers and presentations. Anyone interested in sponsorship and exhibition opportunities can contact raymond@scottishnews.com.
