South Ayrshire Council approves Annual Assurance Statement

South Ayrshire Council’s cabinet has approved the submission of the Annual Assurance Statement (AAS) to the Scottish Housing Regulator.

The statement provides assurances on the council’s compliance with the regulations and outlines ongoing efforts to improve housing services for tenants and other customers.

The AAS highlights the council’s strong track record in maintaining standards of tenant and resident safety. Progress continues to ensure electrical safety and other checks are carried out at properties where access has not been possible so far.

The council continues to maintain high standards in responsive repairs, with emergency repairs completed in an average of 2.49 hours, significantly faster than the Scottish average of 3.9 hours.

Kenneth Dalrymple, assistant director - housing and operations at South Ayrshire Council, said: “We’re very proud of our housing services and we continue to maintain a very high standard.

“Housing safety checks are extremely important and although we’re achieving high levels of compliance, we’re encouraging all our tenants to continue to work with us so we can get access to properties when required.

“We continue to gather equalities data on all our tenants to ensure their rights are at the forefront of what we do. We’re encouraging tenants and other customers to provide this information to help us shape services to meet their needs.”
