This stage of the consultation on the new plan is split into two parts: call for ideas and call for sites.

The call for ideas allows individuals, organisations and community groups – particularly those that have not prepared, or are currently preparing a Local Place Plan – to suggest new uses, improvements or protections for sites or buildings.

The call for sites is a chance for developers, landowners, agents and community groups to proposes sites that could be developed for uses such as housing, employment, retail, leisure, tourism and other infrastructure. 

Stirling Council leader, Cllr Gerry McGarvey, said: “Stirling’s new Local Development Plan will impact everyone as it will shape the places we live, work and enjoy every day in the coming years.

“This consultation is your opportunity to influence an important part of the plan, whether it’s suggesting new development opportunities or identifying sites for protection in your local area.

“We want to gather as much input as possible, from residents to community groups and developers, to ensure Stirling and its communities grows and thrives in a way that reflects the needs and aspirations of its people.

“Please head to the Engage Stirling website to take part in the quick surveys and to find out more information.” 

The online surveys will be open until Friday 31 October, with paper copies available in libraries shortly. All submissions will be considered by the planning authority for inclusion in the next Local Development Plan.

Sites that are proposed for development will be part of a public consultation and engagement (expected in February 2026).

This will provide individuals and community groups with an opportunity to offer feedback before the plan is finalised and published for public consultation in early 2027 (subject to council approval).
