Thenue helps deliver holiday food and fun for Castlemilk kids
Fun and healthy food was firmly on the menu when Castlemilk kids were treated to some school holiday entertainment.
Netherholm Hall in Castlemilk threw open its doors to a “food and fun day” as part of Glasgow’s holiday food programme.
The occasion was well attended with a large turnout of youngsters who were served lunch, goody bags and non-stop entertainment.
“Food and Fun Easter” is part of Castlemilk Together and runs throughout the school holidays offering a rolling programme of activities at locations across the community with a firm emphasis on tackling food inequality.
Castlemilk Together is a network of local organisations including Thenue Housing and its charitable subsidiary Thenue Communities - who have come together to deliver the project as well as other ongoing food initiatives.
Importantly, the food and fun project is supported by Glasgow City Council which provides generous funding.
Cassiltoun Housing Association is also involved as is Castlemilk Parish Church, Indigo after school services, Castlemilk Community Football Trust, Castlemilk Youth Complex and a community asset known as the Hub.
Rosie Robertson of Thenue Communities said: “The brilliant Food and Fun Easter Initiative is well supported by the Castlemilk community and is a great way of bringing people together while focusing on fun and healthy food.
“Castlemilk Together does inspirational work tackling food inequality and we also appreciate the important funding which has been provided by Glasgow City Council to make the programme this spring such a success.”
The Netherholm Hall run by Thenue Communities is the product of years of campaigning by the local community to provide a community hub similar to one which opened earlier in Calton in the city’s east end known as the Calton Heritage and Learning Centre.
Netherholm Hall opened in 2018 and is a highly valued community asset which is well used by local people.
