West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) has paid tribute to much-loved, long-serving tenant and board member Elaine Davidson, who passed away peacefully on 23rd February this year.

Elaine had a long history with WSHA and was a popular, proactive and positive-minded member of the WSHA community.

A tenant of West of Scotland Housing Association since 1991, Elaine had been a keen volunteer in her community for a number of years. She began her involvement with WSHA as the chair of the Tenant Advisory Group.

Elaine then joined the West of Scotland Housing Association board in September 2013 as a tenant board member, and she remained an active and valuable member until early 2025. Always passionate about supporting others in her community, Elaine also served as chair of the Board for WSHA’s charitable subsidiary Willowacre Trust from 2018-2025.

Elaine was a dedicated board member, very rarely missing board meetings and strongly advocating for the best interests of WSHA Group tenants in her participation as a board member. She was passionate about representing the interests of communities and will be sorely missed by staff and colleagues from both the WSHA and Willowacre Trust boards.

Kelly Adams, WSHA board chairperson, spoke of Elaine: “Elaine was a long-standing, valued member of the Board who will be sorely missed by us all. She was a dedicated individual who will be remembered for her unwavering commitment and impactful contributions over the last 12 years. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.”

Jennifer Cairns, head of corporate services, added: “As long as I have worked with WSHA, I have known Elaine as a strong voice for our tenants. In her role as chair of our Tenant Advisory Group she was passionate about involving tenants in our decision making and continued to be so in her role as a board member and on various Sub Committees. Her commitment to making sure the interests of our tenants were prominent was inspiring and made a real difference to the organisation.

“Elaine carried out her role as chair of our subsidiary Willowacre Trust with same commitment and dedication. Personally, I enjoyed working closely with Elaine: she was an amazing and inspirational woman. She will be sorely missed in respect of her involvement with the organisation but also on a personal level as she was a friend to many of us.”

West of Scotland Housing Association are currently in discussion with Elaine’s family around establishing a memorial for Elaine in the area where she lived and that she cared about so deeply.
