WISH Scotland will host its second annual full-day event, Shaping Our Futures: Bold Ambition, Lasting Impact, in Glasgow on 17 September.
As Scotland’s only networking community for women in housing marks its fourth year, the event will provide a valuable opportunity for learning, connection and collaboration, bringing together women from across the sector to share ideas and ambitions.
Taking place at Wheatley and sponsored by McTaggart Construction, the event features a range of inspiring speakers who will share their journeys, insights and practical advice on leadership, resilience and making a meaningful difference.
Event keynote speakers:
- Lesley Robertson, founder and CEO of Juniors Charity, an award-winning organisation supporting families across Lanarkshire. Lesley brings honest insight into rebuilding confidence, overcoming adversity and leading with purpose.
- Sunita Poddar, CEO of Oakminster Healthcare Ltd, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Sunita’s journey began in 1977 when she arrived in the UK unable to speak English and with limited formal education. She has since built a life dedicated to community, care and empowering others. Sunita is also a health and social care advisor to the Scottish Labour Party.
Sunita Poddar said: “I believe that when women come together to exchange ideas, inspire one another and champion meaningful change, we create a powerful ripple effect that extends far beyond the room. I am delighted to be part of this important conversation and look forward to a day of shared wisdom, connection and inspiration.”

Additional speakers include:
- Barbara Henderson, award-winning author and drama teacher, who will explore the power of storytelling to inspire change.
- Debbie Shields, chair of the Ambassador Group for the Connect Hub, which is part of the Simon Community Scotland. The Connect Hub is a community support space for women, providing pathways away from and out of homelessness through support, connection and community.
- Raeann Rankine, a rising housing professional and SHARE Award winner, who will share her personal journey into the sector and her ambitions for the future.
Debbie Shields said: “I’m delighted to be speaking at WISH Scotland’s full day event on behalf of the Connect Hub and Simon Community Scotland. Like WISH, the Connect Hub champions positive outcomes for women and recognises that women have different needs, experiences and challenges.
“In the session, I’ll share more about what the Connect Hub does, how we’re trying to do things a little differently, and the innovative ways we’re working to raise the profile of the Hub and generate funding. As a self-funded service, building awareness and creating strong partnerships is absolutely vital to ensuring we can continue to support women who need us.”

Kirsty Wells, chair of WISH Scotland, said: “As we mark our fourth birthday at WISH Scotland we are delighted to bring women across the housing sector together for a day that celebrates ambition, resilience and the power of connection.
“This event is about creating space for people to be inspired, to share their experiences and to support each other in shaping a stronger future.”
The event is open to both members and non-members.
