Chairing Housing Association Board or Committee Meetings

Who is it for and what is it about?
This programme will provide Chairs with the opportunity to learn from a governance specialist, from each other, and through their own research and the learning materials.
The programme is aimed at Chairs of Housing Associations and Cooperatives who want to develop their understanding and skills to become better at what they do. It will cover three main areas - the role and responsibilities of the Chair, leading effective meetings and managing key relationships.
This programme has been ILM Assured and meets their global quality benchmark, upon completion students will receive an Assured Certificate as well as an Assured Digital Credential.
Course Content
• this course aims to introduce learners to the key concepts of governance within the social housing sector.
• Participants will learn about: how to deal with the challenges of being the chair, including dealing with difficult behaviours, how to use the governance documents to ensure meetings are as effective as possible.
• This course is based around the individual learning-by-doing and by reflecting on their own experiences as well as the experience of their fellow Chairs.
Learning Outcomes
• By the end of this course learners will have the tools to confidently perform the functions of the chair.
