Housing associations in a nutshell - the core functions

Who is it for and what is it about?

Our long-standing committee/board induction programme has now been refreshed, updated and condensed to reflect the time pressure committees and boards face, with six previous sessions now condensed into three with additional e-learning resources available to members to supplement their knowledge.

This session offers a practical overview of the key elements involved in delivering a high-quality housing management and maintenance service within a housing organisation.

Participants will explore the legal and regulatory frameworks, including allocations, anti-social behaviour, rent management, health and safety, SHQS, EESSH, and gas safety requirements, while gaining insight into reactive, cyclical, and planned maintenance approaches.

The session also covers the governance role of Committee/Board members in monitoring performance and ensuring service quality. Real-life examples and current good practice will support participants in confidently engaging with housing management and maintenance policies and decision-making.
