Why do I do that – an introduction to property factoring in Scotland

Who is it for and what is it about?
This course is for those who are new to providing a factoring service in Scotland or for those who want to learn more about why you do the things you do when managing factored property in Scotland. You may be offering a factoring service as a commercial factor, housing association or a local authority.
This course will explore the rules you should follow as a property factor and what the implications of not following these may be.

• The role of the ‘owner’ as a customer and how that will affect your service
• The documentation you should be aware of before providing a service – when to use it?
• Carrying out repairs – what to do and when to do it
• Charging owners – how much and when and just what should you be charging for?
• Collecting unpaid fees – following the correct steps and what’s the result of failing to do so?
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course participants will have a clear understanding of what it means to be a factor in Scotland and why they do the things they do when offering a factoring service as well as their role within it.
