A fund to help community groups across Scotland set up renewable energy generation projects has opened for applications.

Communities across Scotland have received more than £20 million in payouts from green energy projects over a year for the first time, according to the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government has launched a call for applications to its Community And Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) with up to £5 million available. Administered and managed by Local Energy Scotland, CARES was established by the Scottish Government to encourage local and community ownership of renewa
