Visitor Levy

A report is to be considered at the full meeting of East Lothian Council on 27 October, in which councillors will consider the findings of the recent consultation on draft Visitor Levy plans and agree the next phase of work.

The Highland Council has announced that it will continue working with the tourism industry to co-create a draft Visitor Levy scheme targeting the Highlands.

A series of engagement events have been set up so members of the public can take part in the current consultation process on the proposed Visitor Levy Scheme for Highland.

Edinburgh councillors are a week away from potentially approving Scotland's first Visitor Levy, a scheme aimed at raising up to £50 million annually through a 5% charge in addition to the cost of overnight accommodation.

Orkney Islands Council has added a web page dedicated to the visitor levy, allowing access to key information about the legislation, the process so far and next steps. The web page also contains a number of frequently asked questions and links to related external sites.
