Charing Cross Housing Association shows support for Interfest festival

Staff from Charing Cross Housing Association helped the young and not-so-young to discover their artistic side at the recent Interfest festival in the Garnethill Multicultural Centre.

Organised as part of the Refugee Festival Scotland, Interfest celebrates the wealth of new ideas and cultures people bring within them when they seek safety in Scotland. The event highlighted the contribution refugee communities have made to the myriad of food, music, poetry and art that makes Scotland the diverse and tolerant country it is.

During the day, festival goers met and mingled with people from different backgrounds while enjoying a wide range of activities and free foods while being entertained with demonstrations of music, dance and martial arts.

The Association’s stall was kept busy with adults and kids alike using their creative talents to decorate masks that represented their culture and traditions.

Elaine Lister, director of Charing Cross Housing Association, said: “The Association has a long history of housing and supporting people from many different cultures and backgrounds. It is important to us that we are seen to part of these communities and we are therefore proud to have been asked to take in part in Interfest.”
