Elderpark Housing is to be honoured by Glasgow City Council with a civic reception next month.
The event on August 8 will take place at the City Chambers as Elderpark continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The occasion will allow many people who have contributed to the organisation over the last five decades to mark this important milestone.
It is the policy of the council to mark special occasions from city organisations ‘celebrating either 50 years or centenaries’ and the invitation comes from the Lord Provost’s office.
The municipal honour comes just weeks after former First Minister Humza Yousaf MSP laid down a Parliamentary motion at Holyrood congratulating Elderpark on its half century.
The motion attracted support from across the political spectrum.
Gary Dalziel, chief executive of Elderpark, thanked the local authority for “recognising the longevity and success of this community-based organisation”.
Gary added: “Elderpark Housing is delighted to be receiving a civic reception at the invitation of Glasgow City Council as the organisation marks its half century of service to the community within the Govan and broader Govan area.
“It will be a very special occasion at the City Chambers as we hopefully have many colleagues, committee members, consultants and contractors from the past and present attending this event.
“Each of them will have contributed in some way to the success of the organisation and, more importantly, to the local community.”
