Councillors to consider Dennyloanhead land sale for new homes

A proposal to dispose of land for housing development will be considered by a meeting of Falkirk Council’s Executive next week.

It has been put forward that a site north of Glasgow Road in Dennyloanhead will be sold to MacTaggart & Mickel Group for a purchase price of £1.552 million.

If approved, this will allow the development of up to 550 new homes (including 15% affordable housing) over a wider 62-acre (25-hectare) site.

Other benefits expected as part of developer contributions from the wider development include increasing school provision locally and contributions to improving the Junction 7 M80 slip road.

Members of the Executive are also being asked to approve the disposal of Sealock House in Grangemouth, the former HQ of Children’s Services.

The proposal sees the building being sold to Hunters of Linlithgow Ltd for £525k to allow for an expansion of their business servicing vehicles and other auto repair work.

It is hoped the sale will help increase the workforce for the company as it expands, reduce carbon emissions, reduce the burden of running costs to Falkirk Council and generate a capital receipt for Falkirk Council.

Falkirk Council’s Executive will meet on August 22nd. Full reports for the meeting are available here. The meeting will be live-streamed via YouTube.
