The tender process was run by Health and Social Care Moray, which secured tenancy rights for seven bungalows in Elgin that were built by Hanover Scotland.

Six people with complex needs will be housed in the bungalows to help them live independently. Staff will be housed on-site in the remaining property 24 hours a day and will monitor sensors and alarms to offer support wherever it is needed.

People will be moved into the properties in phases while ENABLE Scotland recruits staff to support them. The care provider currently employs 20 people in Moray but a further 20 jobs will be created in the area for the supported living community.

Charles McKerron, learning disability service manager at Health and Social Care Moray, said: “ENABLE Scotland has been commissioned to deliver care and support to these 6 individuals and we are excited to be working with them and Hanover Scotland on this development and the opportunities it will offer.”

Mari Galletly, regional director for ENABLE Scotland, said: “We are looking forward to working with our partners at Health and Social Care Moray and Hanover to further increase our impact across the North of Scotland.

“This new development gives us the opportunity to create 20 new personal assistant job vacancies in the local area, where we will apply our industry-leading ‘PA Model’ of human rights-driven self-directed support to enhance the lives of the people we serve.”

Chris Milburn, director of customer services at Hanover Scotland, added: “Hanover is delighted to be working in close partnership with ENABLE Scotland and Health & Social Care Moray to deliver high-quality housing for people with Autism, learning disabilities and complex support needs.

“This type of housing is much needed and, as an experienced developer and provider of social housing, we are always keen to use the latest technology and housing design to provide safe homes that meet people’s needs now and into the future.”
