Free learning event for frontline workers youth homelessness workers

Frontline youth homelessness workers are being invited to a free webinar to hear about good practice from specialist youth organisations and services in Scotland and hear from young people how frontline workers and services can best support them.

Hosted by the Scottish Frontline Network, Cyrenians and Rock Trust, the interactive event will include a mix of presentations from speakers and discussions in breakout rooms where attendees can share good practice and challenges from their own work when it comes to addressing homelessness among young people.

According to event organisers: “Today in Scotland we are in a growing homelessness crisis, and our young people deserve better. Last year, over 7,000 young people were assessed as homeless in Scotland and people between 16-25 continue to be the most overrepresented age group in homelessness statistics.

“We know that the best way to end youth homelessness is by preventing it in the first place, to stop the cycle before it begins, by offering upstream interventions that identifies and supports young people at risk at an early stage – and when young people are going through homelessness, we must make sure they are supported into suitable housing that meets their needs.

“We also know that young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness are more likely to experience mental health and physical health issues and to have additional support needs, including neurodiversity. We must ensure our frontline staff and support services are able to adapt and support the individual needs of this group of young people.”

The webinar will take place on Thursday, 22 May 2025 13:30 - 16:00 BST. Places can be booked here.
