Tenants and local residents from the Hillhead community gathered on Friday, 27 June, to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Hillhead Housing Association (HA).
The Gala Day commemorated 21 years since the association took ownership of the local housing stock, initiating a significant programme of transformation and modernisation in the area.
The event, which celebrated the vibrant spirit of the Hillhead community, focused on providing entertainment for local children and raising funds for charity. Activities included bouncy castles, magicians, face painting, and classic games such as egg and spoon races and a tombola. Children had the unique opportunity to explore a police van and operate fire engine hoses, with local agencies, charities, and partners supporting the day. St Andrew’s First Aid also provided CPR demonstrations.

Adults participated in chair yoga and received gardening advice from community garden volunteer Davie Campbell. In recognition of his dedicated work over the years, Mr Campbell was presented with an award and a gift. The celebration also honoured the long-standing commitment of six staff members and one management committee member, who have been with the association for its entire 21-year history.
A spokesperson for Hillhead HA said: “A huge thank you must go to all the staff and volunteers who made the day such a fabulous success!
“Lastly thank you to our contractors who provided generous sponsorship for the event.”
