Halliday Foundation helps maximise Whiteinch & Scotstoun Tenant Support Fund

Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association’s Tenant Support Fund plays a vital role in helping tenants who are struggling to afford essential household items.

The fund is designed to ensure that tenants can settle safely and comfortably into their homes – but thanks to the partnership with The Halliday Foundation, WSHA has been able to stretch that support even further, reaching more households within the same budget.

In 2024/25, the fund supported 90 tenants with essential items. In 2025/26, even with the cost of goods and services increasing, working alongside The Halliday Foundation, WSHA supported 94 tenants without expanding the fund itself.

Across every category, the number of items provided has grown.

For example:

  • Beds: increased from 5 to 15
  • Sofas: increased from 4 to 13
  • Cookers: increased from 16 to 19
  • Washing Machines: increased from 11 to 19

These increases highlight how the partnership enables WSHA to provide more items and support more tenants without additional costs.
Carpets and blinds were funded through vouchers issued by WSHA which tenants can redeem with local companies. This allows tenants to choose the flooring or blinds that best suit their home while allowing us to meet tenants’ needs for warmth, privacy, and comfort.

WSHA saw an increased support in this area as carpets increased from 40 to 48 and blinds increased from 5 to 16.

Through this combined approach, WSHA ensure tenants receive the full support needed to make their homes safe, warm and comfortable. The Tenant Support Fund provides a strong financial foundation, while The Halliday Foundation’s ability to source high-quality pre‑loved items enables WSHA to support more tenants, more quickly, and with greater impact.

Together, this partnership is transforming empty properties into welcoming homes by ensuring essential items reach those who need them most.

Angela Molloy, community services officer, said: “The Tenant Support Fund already makes a huge difference, but partnering with The Halliday Foundation has taken that support to another level.  It is incredibly rewarding to see how much more we can offer tenants when we work together especially when it means they can settle into a safe, comfortable home much sooner.”

Chris Halliday, from the Halliday Foundation, said: “Over the past year, our partnership with Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association has shown just how impactful the right support at the right time can be.

“Through our Houses to Homes service, we’re not just providing essential furniture, we’re helping turn what can be a stressful move into a positive new start. By responding quickly, we’re enabling tenants to settle into their homes sooner, reducing rent arrears and supporting those on low incomes with the items they need to live with dignity”
