Kingdom and Campion continue support for iconic Forth Road Bridge race

Kingdom Housing Association and Campion Homes sponsored the race last year

Campion Homes and Kingdom Housing Association are among the local organisations to lend their support to a race across the iconic Forth Road Bridge this weekend.

The Pitreavie AAC Forth Road Bridge 10K Race will be run on Sunday, 24th August and has been helped to success by a very generous three-way sponsorship from Campion and Kingdom as well as Briggs Marine Services.

With breathtaking views, the Bridge race has become one of the most popular races in the UK.

Alan Fullerton, Pitreavie AAC Race director, gave a huge thanks to all three sponsors for supporting the event.

He said: “Our annual event will host 400 runners and it is so popular that each year it is completely sold out soon after entries are invited!”

Susan Jackson, joint managing director of Campion Homes, said: “The Forth Road Bridge is one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks, and Campion Homes is proud to support this spectacular race organised by Pitreavie AAC. As a trusted, family-owned housebuilder rooted in the local area, we’re committed to investing in our communities - including through events like this that bring people together. Wishing all participants the very best for the race.”

Dan Blake, Kingdom Group’s director of communities, said: “At the Kingdom Group, we believe thriving communities are built through high-quality, affordable homes and shared experiences that bring people together. The Forth Road Bridge 10k perfectly demonstrates this, combining community spirit with an incredible and iconic Scottish backdrop. We’re proud to support events like this through our Community Initiatives Fund, particularly when working with local partners like Campion Homes and Briggs Marine.”

A spokesperson for Briggs Marine added: “We are proud to support our local running community by sponsoring the Forth Road Bridge 10k. Briggs is a leading provider of marine and environmental services, specialising in nearshore, offshore and subsea operations. For over 50 years, the family-owned and operated company has delivered safe, high-quality, cost-effective, multi-disciplinary support in diverse and challenging locations, on time and on budget. Good luck to all the runners!”

Alan stressed that “Pitreavie AAC continues to be a vibrant part of the community and it’s great to see local sponsors in this, with us, together.”

He added that the Club is heavily reliant on volunteers, and the generous sponsorship enables it to keep race costs affordable for the runners who compete.

Speaking of volunteers, he said there is one very special person who will be greatly missed by Pitreavie AAC  – that is Sir Geoff Palmer.

Alan added: “It is with great sadness that Geoff died in June of this year. Geoff was well known around the world for his trailblazing work and unwavering commitment to equality, communities and inclusion.

“He was a very powerful and inspirational man! It is humbling that he generously gave his time to our athletics club, presenting prizes to our runners, at the very first Forth Road Bridge race in 2003 and in subsequent years thereafter. His speeches were hilariously funny! Pitreavie AAC is very privileged to have known Geoff.”
