Kingdom Housing Association’s (KHA) commitment to tackling the housing emergency has received a crucial boost thanks to £13 million of funding arranged by Allia C&C through its Charitable Bond programme in partnership with the Scottish Government.

The Charitable Bonds programme provides simple, unsecured loans to housing associations for up to 15 years. The unique appeal of the scheme is that the interest on the loans provides grant funding that the Scottish Government allocates to support further social housing development. Crucially, this means the money stays within the sector.

Kingdom has previously benefited from the Charitable Bond scheme, most recently with a £5m loan taken on in 2025. The latest boost to funds will allow Kingdom to press ahead with its ambitious development programme and commitment to the mission of providing more than a home.

Peter Freer, director, debt capital markets - head of Scottish office, said: “Kingdom Housing Association has been a consistent and valued recipient of Charitable Bonds throughout the decade since this funding mechanism was established.

“Allia C&C are delighted to partner with them once again on this latest bond issuance. Kingdom continues to deliver an ambitious and impactful development programme, and this funding represents a crucial component of the comprehensive financing strategy required to bring these plans to fruition.”

Kingdom Group’s finance director Lesley Janes added: “This partnership helps us deliver much-needed new homes and play our part in tackling the housing emergency. We know the difference that high-quality, affordable housing makes for our customers and communities. The Charitable Bond loan funding from Allia C&C is an important part of financing our development programme and supports our ambition to do more.”
