Moray Council celebrates ‘tenant legends’ for Scottish Housing Day

Moray Council is marking the 10th anniversary of Scottish Housing Day, by seeking out stories of ‘tenant legends’.
Residents are being invited to nominate Moray Council housing tenants who have made a difference in their local communities – whether it’s through checking on others, helping out with local projects or simply spreading kindness.
All nominees will be entered into a prize draw, and some stories will be highlighted in Tenants’ Voice magazine and on social media. Nominations can be made via Moray Engage.
The theme of Scottish Housing Day 2025 is ‘good neighbours and strong communities’, reflecting the important role of relationships, volunteering and shared spaces in shaping areas in which people feel proud to live.
Councillor Amber Dunbar, chair of Housing and Community Safety Committee, said: “Scottish Housing Day gives us a chance to celebrate the people who make our communities what they are; supportive, welcoming and resilient. We know there are countless tenants across Moray who make a difference every day, often without any recognition. This is our opportunity to thank them and to share their inspiring stories.”
Tenant representative Liz Mcknockiter added: “What we’re looking for really are the unsung heroes – the people who help others automatically. They don’t do it for recognition, they do it because they care. We feel that they really do deserve that recognition – and I would encourage residents to put forward nominations.”
