Moray Council receives accolades at National Good Practice Awards
Moray Council achieved a double victory at the TPAS Scotland’s National Good Practice Awards (NGPA Awards).
The council was handed two accolades. One of these was the Good Practice in Communicating with Tenants and Residents – recognising the council’s tenant newsletter, developed in partnership with its Tenant Editorial Panel. The other was the Tenant Participation Officer of the Year – celebrating the work of Rebecca Irons in supporting tenant engagement and empowerment.
The awards celebrate innovation and best practice in tenant participation and engagement with Scotland.
The award for communication celebrates the council’s tenant newsletter, which is spearheaded by its Tenant Editorial Panel. The panel works with staff to make sure content is clear and reflects upon what is important for tenants and residents.
The newsletter has served as a platform for showing updates and services, and presenting community stories.
The Tenant Participation Officer of the Year award recognised the commitment and impact of Irons, who is Moray Council’s customer engagement officer.
The award celebrates the role of officers in boosting rapport with tenants, promoting involvement, and helping the voices of communities to drive services.
Councillor Amber Dunbar, who is the Chair of Moray Council’s Housing and Community Safety Committee, said: “The success of our tenant newsletter is a direct result of the passion and dedication of our Tenant Editorial Panel, while the Tenant Participation Officer award recognises Rebecca’s invaluable work being done every day to engage and empower our communities.
“Moray Council extends its thanks to all tenants, residents, and staff involved in tenant participation activities, whose contributions made this success possible. These awards reinforce the Council’s commitment to continuous improvement in communication and collaboration, ensuring tenants remain at the heart of housing services.”
