Moray Council seeks views on Rent Management Policy

Moray Council is seeking feedback on its updated Rent Management Policy, which sets out how the local authority supports tenants and manages rent payments for housing.
Key changes include a stronger emphasis on early intervention and tenant support; new equality and social inclusion commitments and the inclusion of a rent support scheme to help vulnerable tenants avoid homelessness.
At a meeting of the Housing and Community Safety Committee, councillors agreed that the revised policy should go out for public consultation.
The consultation will run until Monday, 22 October, and will be available on Moray Engage.
Chair of the Housing and Community Safety Committee, Councillor Amber Dunbar, said: “Every tenant deserves fair treatment and support when they face financial difficulties. This revised Rent Management Policy is about prevention first, to make sure people get assistance before problems grow. We want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure this policy is balanced, fair and works for those who need it.”
Following the consultation, a final version of the policy will be brought back to the Committee for approval in November, with the aim of putting the policy in place in April 2026.
