Moray Council to carry out review of sheltered housing services

Moray Council is to conduct a comprehensive review of its sheltered housing services, due to ongoing concerns about low demand.

Sheltered housing has historically provided accommodation with support for older people and, in some cases, younger people with additional support needs.

In recent years, however, demand for some of these properties has fallen.

The review, which is moving ahead following a meeting of the Housing and Community Safety Committee on Tuesday 24 June, is part of Moray Council’s wider Local Housing Strategy.

The strategy, which is currently in development, aims to improve housing options and support services across the region.

Chair of Moray Council’s Housing and Community Safety Committee, councillor Amber Dunbar, said: “This review is designed to ensure our sheltered housing offering meets the evolving needs of residents, while also optimising the use of housing stock.

“It’s important all tenants are given the opportunity to be heard as part of this review so we’re committed to facilitating consultations that will prioritise their voices throughout this process.”
