Delivered in response to tenant feedback, the team will be the frontline in making sure the areas remain clean, safe and tidy for tenants.

The new team will consist of three full-time employees and respond to issues such as littering, bulk uplifts, weeding and problem graffiti in identified neighbourhoods. This will provide extra help to keep areas safe and attractive.

The project will at first be operating in specific communities (Camlachie, Springburn and Dalmarnock in Glasgow) for a period of 18 months. This will allow close monitoring of the team and the work they do. At the end of this period, WSHA will evaluate the efficiency and value-for-money of the in-house service to inform the shape of wider rollout.

WSHA director of housing and community services Robert Campbell said: “Our tenants have told us that keeping neighbourhoods clean, safe and well maintained is important to them, and the new Estates Team will help us do exactly that. They will be a visible presence in our communities, tackling issues such as litter, graffiti and bulk waste, while helping us respond more quickly to environmental concerns.
