Plans to transform the site of a former school in Glasgow into a residential development have moved to the planning stage.

Robertson Living and EMA want to deliver 65 homes on land formerly occupied by Howford School on Crookston Road.

Earlier this year, a proposal of application notice revealed plans for the 4.2ha brownfield site bounded by the White Cart Water to be home to around 70 new homes, while retaining established woodland and routing a new walking trail.

A design document submitted with the new application for planning permission has reduced this to 65 homes with a variety of house types and frontage to Crookston Road, “providing an attractive streetscape”.

It added: “The proposal includes a mix of medium density detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. This housing mixture is in keeping with the storey height and massing of surrounding residential areas.”

There would be a single point of access from Crookston Road.

Mature trees along the steep river embankment to north-east would be kept, maintaining river character and buffer.

Trees would also be retained along the south eastern boundary providing separation between existing development and new homes.
