Plans to build 274 new East Renfrewshire homes to go on show

Barrhead Red Line resizedTaylor Wimpey West Scotland has revealed plans to build 274 new homes in East Renfrewshire.

The developer plans to build the scheme on a site to the south of Springfield Road in Barrhead.

The site forms part of the Barrhead South Masterplan, one of three Strategic Development Opportunities (SDO) in the East Renfrewshire Local Development Plan. The Barrhead South SDO has a total capacity of approximately 1,000 homes.

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s proposal includes 15% of the homes being made affordable (7% social housing, 8% discounted), subject to change prior to submissions.

Other features include public open space, play areas and landscaping as well as incorporating the Spierston Burn running through the site.

Residents are invited to view designs for the scheme at a public exhibition in the Barrhead Foundry, Main Street between 3pm – 8pm on Wednesday, 28 June.

Stephen Andrew, technical director, said: “Public Exhibitions are an excellent way for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland to engage at an early stage with the community in which it intends to deliver new homes.

“This is an important part of the process, and we would encourage as many members of the public as possible to view our proposals. It is our intention to review all the feedback that we receive at this event in order to inform our design, prior to submitting a detailed planning application to East Renfrewshire Council later this year following conclusion of the community consultation process.”
